What to do with toddlers...

Toddlers move fast, learn fast, and get into trouble fast. Their fast pace makes for great learning opportunities and fun, but it can also lead to challenges. When working with toddlers it is essential that there are a variety of appropriately challenging activities available for them. Finding activities that are appropriate can be difficult, and it is easy to get stuck in a rut. While checking out resource books from the lending library is a great idea, sometimes a quick reference is helpful. Early Childhood News has numerous articles that are great for quick reference. Click here to check out one of my favorites: 10 for 10: Ten Activities to Occupy Toddlers.

But what about infant activities? There are always activities for preschoolers, toddlers, and twos but never for infants.

It can be tricky to find good activity ideas for infants; often caregivers forget that infants do need planned experiences daily. Remember the Foundations to the Indiana Academic Standards for Young Children can always be used as a reference for providing standard experiences for young children. If you find yourself struggling for ideas we always have trainings to help improve daily interactions with children (scroll down to check out our training calendar for the month). If you still hunger for more, check out this great online article full of sensory activities for infants: http://www.sensory-processing-disorder.com/infant-play-activities.html
